2023
Drs Baysan and Cakmak from ITU Bioinformatics Research Group gave talks on their most recent research at the IX. International Molecular Medicine Conference which was held online.
ITU Bioinformatics Research Group members attended the Future Health Congress. Our group made major contributions to the conference program.
ITU Bioinformatics Research Group members have attended the local Bioinformatics workshop at Yildiz Technical University. The workshop was organized by the Systems Biology and Bioinformatics Society. Dr. Baysan served as the moderator of the event.
Dr. Ali Cakmak gave a talk on using deep learning to predict mutations in virus genomes at the One Health Conference at Ankara University.
Dr. Ali Cakmak has co-chaired a session with a theme of "AI in Genomics" as part of 9th Turkish Medical World Congress 2023 (Türk Tıp Dünyası Kurultayı). The two-day event is organized by Turkish Ministry of Health and The Health Institutes of Turkey. This year's theme was "AI in Health". The event has hosted a large number of leading researchers from around 20 countries.
We are now offering an undergraduate class on Bioinformatics as part of the ITU Computer Engineering curriculum for third-year students. Check out the BLG 348E - Introduction to Bioinformatics at ITU course offerings list for Fall 2023.
Drs. Mehmet Baysan and Ali Cakmak present the Bioinformatics Labs research activities at ITU - TUSEB collaboration workshop held in Maslak Hilton Hotel.
Scholars and project staff will be recruited for our genetic sequencing projects. Participants will receive training on genetic data analysis, more specifically the use of sequencing technologies, and will take part in current projects.
Dr. Cakmak gave a talk on predicting virus mutations at Teknofest 2023 in the AI in Health pavilion.
Dr. Cakmak took part in Teknofest 2023 as a referee for the Bioinformatics category.

Our team has won a prestigious prize as the 3rd best team at Teknofest’s AI in Health competitions under the Bioinformatics category. Congratulations!
